Weigh in here with your feelings on "splitting" instead of playing out the final games, whether it's a major tournament or a local event.
More later...

Hi Shufflers! I feel that combining and splitting the 1st & 2nd place winnings between the final 2 players or teams should be left totally up to them. They should not have to give anyone a reason for the split as the winnings is their's to do with as they wish! The only thing at issue is if there are trophys or plaques. I say let them also decide who gets 1st place hardware...Thanks for reading...Sogger27

What about the sponsors? They should either have a say, or know that the possibility of a split exists before they place their bets.
As an aside, I'm not exactly a proponent of the split option.

Hello Shufflers! Good point about the sponsors peahead. An announcement should be made prior to every player/team auction that there will be a possibility of a split between the final 2 players/teams, or that there will be no splits allowed. This should be agreed upon by the event directors (callers) prior to the auction and that will put forth the unquestionable ending of the event if no splits are allowed. Some sponsors may not wish to bid if the possibility of a split exists, more players/teams would be buying themselves for a 50/50 divide at match end. But if we some how drive out a fair percentage of the non-playing bidders the purse size will surely suffer. I am not at all a proponent of the split even though I've been involved in 3 that I can remember. The reason I agreed to split was because these were team events and the majority of they people involved were pro-split, and I believe in majority rules when there are no rules. The issue should be put to rest at the start of every event so there will be no confussion at the end. Let's hope this issue gets addressed and initiated at all our events, as it stands now it is an open loophole for possible arguing or hard feelings at the end of some events. Let's keep it simple and fun, afterall we're just one big "happy" family...Thanks for reading...Sogger27
